  I have a degree in environmental sciences and a doctorate in chemistry. In relation to research, I have always looked at science from an environmental point of view. Main research experiences are; (a) Enzimatic pesticide degradation; (b) electrochemical detection and quantification of heavy metals in water, (c) green bio-polymer synthesis in eutectic and aqueous mixtures, (d) the recyclability of bitumen asphalt mixtures and (e) the capacity of sustainable urban drainage techniques for emerging pollutant removal. I also worked outside academia for example as a freelance in consultancy in the performance and writing of European and national projects or as an environmental expert in court, evaluating environmental damage in industrial scenarios.

  Dr. Sarah Waickowski is an Assistant Professor at Clemson University in the Department of Agricultural Sciences. Her research focuses on stormwater management, particularly low impact development practices. During time as an Extension Associate at North Carolina State University, Sarah designed, constructed, and/or monitored the performance of bioretention cells, suspended pavement systems, subsurface gravel wetlands, permeable pavement, and constructed wetlands.
