  I research and teach in the Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering at the University of Canterbury. I currently research in runoff quality characterisation, pollutant load modelling, development of new treatment technologies and assessment of socio-cultural benefits of Nature-based Solutions to inform design. Very interested in water sensitive urban design, ecological solutions for treatment, creating ecological resilience in engineered systems and adaptive engineering for a changing climate.

  Narges Esfandiar is an environmental engineer that has a broad interest in water treatment, sustainable stormwater management tools and biosorbents. She conducted research on green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) and the removal of different contaminants from stormwater in urban areas, with a specific focus on how GSI amended by different green adsorbents affects the mitigation of metals, nutrients and PAHs from stormwater. She earned a MSc degree at Amirkabir University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, and she completed an environmental engineering Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Temple University, Philadelphia PA, United States.

  James Houle is the Director for the Stormwater Center. His responsibilities include directing and managing the Stormwater Center's growing body of research projects. Areas of expertise include diffusion of innovative stormwater management solutions, the design and implementation of innovative stormwater control measures including green infrastructure (GI), and low impact development (LID) strategies, planning and implementation, operation and maintenance, and water resource monitoring. Dr. Houle holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resources and Environmental Science and has over twenty years of experience with water quality related issues in New England and is a certified professional in storm water quality (CPSWQ) and a certified professional in erosion and sediment control (CPESC).

  Shaahin Nazarpour Tameh was born in September 1994 in Tehran, Iran. In 2017, he received a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in the field of civil and geodesy from Khaje Nasir University (KNTU), Tehran, Iran. He completed his Master of Science (M.Sc.) in environmental engineering from the University of Genoa, Italy, in 2021. Currently, he is pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at the University of Genoa, Department of Civil, Chemical, and Environmental Engineering, PON program. His main research areas include urban stormwater management by low-impact development in terms of quantity and quality, hydrologic modeling, and hydraulic modeling.
