  Biographical Sketch
  
  I am a postdoctoral researcher in the field of environmental engineering. I follow a multidisciplinary approach, analysing both the impacts of climate change on our cities and adaptation measures to cope with more frequent and extreme precipitation events, heatwaves and droughts. I carry out fundamental research in the field of land-atmosphere interactions to better understand changes in the energy and water balances at the surface, which in turn affect water availability, vegetation health, heat fluxes and microclimatic conditions. Based on the fundamental research, I am looking at ways to improve local adaptation measures and citywide strategies.

  The speaker is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta. He is also an Environmental Flow Scientist in Ecofish Research. He completed his doctoral research on the air-water two phase flow and total dissolved gas supersaturation in University of Alberta. His general research interests are in environmental hydraulics and air-water hydrodynamics.

  Lauren Cook is leader of the Multifunctional blue-green design group in the Department Urban Water Management at EAWAG. Her research uses modeling, monitoring and decision-making approaches to ensure the design of blue-green infrastructure can achieve multiple benefits, including stormwater attenuation, urban heat mitigation, and climate resilience. She has a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, USA).

  Meagan Tobias is a PhD candidate in the Digital Water Lab studying Intelligent Systems Engineering at the University of Michigan. She received her bachelors in Environmental Engineering and her masters degrees are in Civil Engineering and Signal Processing/Machine Learning. Awards include the NSF GRFP Fellowship and the Rackham Merit Fellowship. Her research focuses on using sensing for water quality monitoring and management in surface water.
